SKYLIGHTING
After a stunning loss, Nick Nacht has quit his NYC law firm and is leading a low-rent life in a Florida beach town. He both seeks and fears emotional renewal, and through a series of encounters he experiences variations of his own dilemma. These include a teenage girl, a German tourist, a neighbor for whom he bird-sits, a married woman on vacation, a young Mediterranean poet and a translator of indigenous texts.
The Loneliness Jacket
"With practiced calm, the poet observes and preserves the verities of place, memory, and the passage of seasons . . . Hansmann compels readers to consider each living moment's mysteries."
Apostasy of the Wayless Poet
"Charles Hansmann has written a book of tremendous restraint and tremendous, lucid beauty, as appealing in its refusals as it is in its graces and the surprising music of its uncluttered stanzas."
